Im finding really hard to make HTML changes to my blogging service. I think that it might have to do with the template that i am using. any way ill just have to keep trying I suppose.

Deadline extension hey. Well I was close to finishing so that all right. A little bit longer might not be that bad.

There were heaps and heaps of options that appear when trying to find a hosting service through a search engine like Google. Against the advice the advice of Geoff (my lecturer/tutor) I decided to look at reviews of free web hosting services, and because they were free I felt that there would be less tendency for bias. Still I was wary, and I made sure that the site that I eventually chose was pretty damn good. I found a web hosting service called Byehost and the service that they are offering for free seems fantastic. The general information about what you get with this service is as follows.

Information Architecture

This week in the blogtastic adventure the lecture was primarily concerned with information architecture and its applications.

What I gathered from the lecture was that information architecture is the way that information is categorised, organised and applied to the medium for which it is intended.

I am researching the Commonwealth Bank site to explore the information flow of the site for another class, and I feel that it is a very good example of this process. The site in its entirety is immense, and would have been impossible to achieve without applying some or all of the principles discussed by Richard Saul Werman in his definition of the term.

This is a good diagram of the connection of elements that directly affect the outcome of any prepared and planned website, database or any other from of data preservation.

Why code counts?

First and foremost, it is widely known within the web designing community that a good understanding and implementation of code produces better results. It is the best way to create HTML and CSS, because of the way that it can control these Internet systems.

Using this method it seems that you are more likely not to run into issues of browsers behaving differently with the same content. Working in code and coupling this process with clean CSS seems to be the best way of combating browser incompatibilities. The w3care the organisation that set the standard’s for the implementation of code in browser’s and are blamed for the incompatibility problems web designers face today. They are accused of not acting fast enough to create new standards to reflect the needs of the users of the web.

My 7 design Characteristics are based on a grunge style and they include;

1. Dark earthy colours

The colours that are used to achieve the feel of grunge are very dark and natural to portray the sense of dirt or unclean.

2. Paper Cut outs

To add extra content the web developers have used paper cut outs to give the impression of realism.

3. Painted Texture

The sites are painted in parts all dirty to stay true to the the grunge theme.

4. Centred Layout

All the websites have chosen to display all the content of the page in the middle of the browser.

5. Incorporates elements of drawing

Drawing in the sites adds depth and fills up the empty space to co inside with a chaotic grunge style.

6. All have the perception of realism

All the websites trick the eye into thinking the page has depth and a three dimensional layout.

7. Essence of urbanism

All of the websites call to a very urban flavour.

After extensive research (cough, cough!) I found a website that contains most of the elements that I wish to achieve in my final result.

The site is called "Dark light" and I like the use of colour, the grungy feel, the urban flavour , and the clever use of sketch. Minus the fact that the website is quite girly (sorry to anyone offended by that) this particular website encompasses the essence of what I am trying to achieve.

Another day in the Blogtastic Adventure.

After careful consideration I have come to a conclusion on a festival which I will base my music website, but out of fear of sounding like a mindless sheep I reluctantly inform you all that I have chosen Stonefest. I am well aware that a majority people will choose this pathway, but rest assured, I am not fazed. I feel that my interest in the festival will only help to enhance my creative output, and thus provide me with an Industry standard of work (I hope).

On another note I have dived deep into the world wide web in search of my illusive web pages. I have found some amazing sites and I feel the research is coming close to reaching a style that is befitting of the image of Stonefest

I think that I am one of many when i say that, this is my first ever blog. I have never partaken in any blogging before, which is astonishing, being that i am a 2nd year media student (thats just terrible). Well i did a bit of facebooking, so i suppose that counts.
